So, my mom bought Adalyn this pink coat and hat (with mittens) over a year ago, before all the drama started. We have been waiting until 1. She was big enough to wear it and 2. Coldish enough to wear it. Shannon came over today, and we decided to do an impromptu photo shoot!
I also love how well Shannon and I worked as a team to get some of these pics. What we should've done is set the video camera to record our operation of this photo shoot! Shannon whistled once and Adalyn found it quite amusing.
Now, some of you may know how much I DESPISE whistling. In fact, a long-standing "law" between Shannon and myself is that she is not allowed to whistle in my presence (and I'm not allowed to sing in hers) UNLESS it is to a song playing on the radio. Now, this law was enacted when I was about 10 or 11, and it was to bring peace among two sisters. It is kind of funny that this law has remained, unchanged, for several decades.
Shannon used to really like it when we would play one of my dad's 45's "Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding since the end had him whistling. I'm not ashamed to say (ok, maybe a little) that I would pull the needle up off the record when that started. :)
Well, since Adalyn found whistling to be so amusing, I asked Shannon to whistle. Shannon saw this as an opportunity to impress me with her extensive repertoire of whistling songs. At one point, I had to get her to get right behind me (so that Adalyn would look at the camera) and she was literally whistling in my ear! I started laughing, which caused Shannon to laugh, which in turn made Adalyn laugh! Unfortunately, I couldn't get a shot since I was shaking from laughing! Oh, the things we will bear for our children. :)
This picture really shows Adalyn's brown eyes!! It's funny, some days, when the light really hits her eyes, I feel like they're a really dark green. However, in all of these pics (without much natural light) her eyes are 100%, no-doubt-about-it brown!
